The bridge at Medicine Bow
Around the World in Eighty Days, by Jules Verne · 7 Dec 1872
A herd of bison holds the train up for hours. Further on, a signalman warns that the bridge ahead is giving way. The driver backs up, opens the throttle and takes it at full speed. The train flies across, and the bridge falls into the river behind.
